The Sourcing
GladRags is proud to make our products in the United States and to source materials from local and/or woman-owned suppliers whenever possible. The cotton we use for our organic pads is GOTS-certified organic.
The Sustainability
We use recycled, recyclable, and/or biodegradable packaging. We insist on a transparent and sustainable approach to business in every detail. We use local bike delivery to receive finished goods from our local sewing partner and put fabric scraps to good use in the community. We pay meticulous attention to waste reduction in every aspect of manufacturing, distribution, packaging, and office management.
The Spark
GladRags was founded in 1993 by Brenda Mallory. She was using cloth diapers for her daughter, and realized: "If this is better for my daughter's health and the environment, why am I still using disposables for myself?" So GladRags started with Brenda making her own cloth menstrual pads, and has continued to grow from a small spare-bedroom business to the thriving national brand it is today!
The Differentiator
A few things! Our cloth pads consist of a holder with snaps and inserts that go inside, which allows the wearer more flexibility and to customize their pads' absorbency. Our menstrual cup, XO Flo, was designed in-house, taking into account the experiences and preferences of first-time cup users to create a unique, thoughtfully-constructed product.
The Favorite
Our faves are the XO Flo menstrual cup (both sizes - the XO Flo and XO Flo Mini) and cloth Pantyliners. They go great together, too, since pantyliners provide great backup for cups! The runner-up would be the Day Pad, which is customizable in absorbency - perfect for any flow!
